Let’s All Engage Our Brains

Imagine a live Ted Talk where you can participate not just listen. A local expert describes the power of the brain — if and when we use it!

This 45 minute event offers a practical look at how to effectively use the most powerful computer and storage device you have at your disposable. You can’t buy it anywhere because it’s already between your ears. Yes, we are talking about your brain.

The brain makes thinking, mindfulness, even meditation possible. Weighing in at about 3 pounds, 2% of your body weight, it is working away between your ears and behind your eyes 24×7. Not only does it remember things, not only does it create new ideas, it processes the enormous volume of incoming data—sights, sounds, smells, tastes, scents, sensations of touch and bodily motion—you use to go through life each day. Be thankful for that wonderful gift.

The session consists of a 20 minute talk followed by an open-mic question and answer segment. It concludes with a fun experiment: a 2 minute seated meditation on the mantra Buddhi — Sanskrit for Think.
