Tidally United 2018: Archaeology Academy

Learn about heritage and rising sea levels at the Archaeology Academy! Come to the Archaeology Academy open volunteer lab where you can get your hands on artifacts the native people of Weedon Island left behind. Following the lab, hear presentations about sea level rise and heritage. Our featured speaker, Libby Carnahan of Pinellas County’s UF/IFAS Extension, will discuss sea level rise and how it will affect the built and natural environments of Tampa Bay. Jeff Moates of the Florida Public Archaeology Network (FPAN) will provide an update on the Heritage Monitoring Scouts (HMS) program and briefly focus on impacts to heritage sites.

After the presentations, register to hike to an archaeology site or take a canoe to visit different sites around Weedon Island. Recommended for all ages.
